St. George’s,  October 19th 2009: Staff members of the Ministry of Health on Friday turned out to witness the handing over of approximately Fifteen Thousand US Dollars worth of medical supplies by Grenada's Consul General in New York, Derek James, to Minister for Health Senator Ann Peters. The donation was a joint undertaking of the Grenada Independence Committee and the Grenada Consulate of New York.

Speaking at the handing over ceremony, Consul General James said that the presentation to the Ministry of Health is indicative of the perception of people in the Diaspora about the importance of the health sector to national development. James assured the Minister for Health Senator the Hon. Ann Peters that they will continue to work to ensure that the health sector can deliver quality service to all. Consul General James pleaded with officials to take care of the products.

Minister Peters expressed her gratitude for the donation and thanked the Grenada Independence Committee and Consul General James for their tireless effort in seeking to improve the quality of health service on the island. The Health Minister commended Consul General James for his enthusiasm and consistency in raising funds to meet the needs of the Ministry of Health.
