- Valid Passport (Valid for at least six (6) months from propose date of travel)
- Two (2) Passport Photos – one (1) certified by a JP or Notary Public
- Copy of return travel ticket
- Valid evidence of Permission to Re-Enter the United States (Alien Registration Card or Valid Visa)
- Visa fee: US$100(single entry) US$250(multiple entries)
- PLEASE FILL OUT APPLICATION IN BLACK INK.
- WRITE IN BOLD LETTERS
- IF VISA IS TO BE MAILED BACK TO APPLICANT, PLEASE INCLUDE AN ADDITIONAL FEE OF US$8.00 (CERTIFIED MAIL) OR US$18.00 (EXPRESS MAIL) FOR POSTAGE AND HANDLING.

Canada Visitor Visa Procedure
UNITED STATES CITIZENS and ALIEN RESIDENTS (persons lawfully admitted to the United States for permanent residence) who are in possession of their alien registration card (Green card) or can provide other evidence of permanent residence DO NOT require visas to visit Canada.

There are six Canadian Visa Offices in the United States that can process Visitor Visa applications:

Canadian Consulate General in Buffalo, NY
Canadian Consulate General in New York
Canadian Consulate General in Detroit,
Canadian Consulate General in Los Angeles, CA
Canadian Consulate General in Seattle, WA
Requirements for processing Visitor Visa Applications
A Completed Application Form. Visitor Visa Application Forms can be downloaded from the Internet from Citizenship and Immigration Canada in PDF format at www.canada-ny.org.
Two Passport-Style Photographs for each Family Member Requiring A Visa. (No copies or scanned photos will be accepted). The name and date of birth of the person should be written on the back of each photo.
A Processing Fee (Non-Refundable).
Single Entry: US$50
Multiple Entry: US$100
Family Rate: US$260
Fees may be paid by certified cheque, money order, Visa or Master card. >Personal cheques are not acceptable. Cash must not be sent in the mail.
Processing fees are not refundable. If your application is refused, or if you apply for a multiple entry but only a single entry visa is given, no part of the processing fee will be returned.
Applicants for transit visas are exempt from processing fees.
A Valid And Subsisting Passport. (A minimum of six months validity is recommended). A Canadian Visitor Visa cannot be issued beyond the Validity of the Passport!
Original Immigration Documents From The U.S. Immigration And Naturalization Service. (i.e. I-94 Entry Card, and any additional or extended I-94s, I-20, IAP66, I-797, etc.).
Proof Of Funds The Applicant Has Available For His/Her Visit To Canada. (i.e. recent bank statements). Credit Cards will NOT be accepted as evidence of money for your trip to Canada.
Additional Documentation that May Be Required:
Confirmed travel plans to and from Canada (i.e. airline tickets, itinerary).
Confirmed travel plans back to the applicant's home country (i.e. airline tickets, itinerary).
Evidence of the applicants' friends/relatives' status in the U.S. (i.e. copy of green card or passport).
Evidence of the applicants' friends/relatives' status in Canada (i.e. copy of landing record or passport).
Invitation letter from friend/relative/business/ conference in Canada.
Documents establishing ties to the applicant's home country (i.e. property ownership, financial documents, personal tax returns, proof of employment, payroll stubs, family ties, etc.).
Proof of the applicant's business in the U.S./Canada/home country (i.e. business registration, corporate tax returns, etc.).
Visitors Bringing Children To Canada:
Travelers visiting Canada with children should carry the following:
Identification for each child similar to the identification described above for adults.
A NOTARIZED letter of permission from the parents of any children accompanying them for whom they do not have legal custody.
Divorced Parents With Shared Custody Rights should carry legal documents establishing their status. Unaccompanied Children should carry a NOTARIZED letter of permission from their parent(s) or legal guardian(s).
Application Processing Times
The time required to process a Visitor Visa application varies depending on the method of application, the citizenship of the applicant, and the date the application is made (during busy periods, applications may take longer to process). As a general rule, applications should be made at least ONE MONTH prior to the applicant's departure in order to avoid disappointment.
Applications made IN PERSON before 10.00 a.m. to Canadian Visa Office MAY be processed the same day.
Processing of properly completed mail-in applications is generally completed within one (1) working week of receipt. Please add at least one (1) week for mailing. All Applicants May Be Subject To Background Checks And Waiting Periods As Designated By The Visa Officer. During busy periods, applications may take longer to process. Applicants should ensure that all necessary documents, the processing fee, and a valid passport are included in their applications.
If you wish to have your documents mailed back to you, you should send a prepaid, self-addressed return Express Mail envelope. For the security of your documents, we strongly recommend that you provide return express, registered or certified mail envelope. Documents using courier services (DHL, FedEx, UPS) will not be returned. Applications by mail that are sent without a return envelope will be returned by certified mail.
